Wait, what’s Shmita?

The Shmita year is a once-every-seven-years occasion. For an entire year, the land is given its own Shabbat -- a chance to rest. And it's not only humans' relationship to land that gets "reset." It is also a Biblical commandment for debts between human beings to be forgiven when the Shmita year rolls around.

Shmita Hives is a free set of monthly prompts to explore Shmita in small groups (“hives”) in local communities (or online, through a digital hive). The curriculum will offer options for hives to study together, practice rest and collective care, access play and embodiment, identify needs in your local community, and collaborate on social/environmental justice projects.
